Six injured in hydrogen balloon explosion

Hyderabad:Six people were injured when hydrogen balloons being released during a function exploded at the IBM campus here Monday.

The police said the blast occurred during the annual celebrations at the multi-national company’s campus at Hitec City, Madhapur.

Six employees sustained minor burn injuries on their faces and hands. They were admitted to a private hospital.

Ranga Reddy, inspector at Raidurgam police station, said several hydrogen balloons were released during the celebrations. Some balloons exploded while being released in the air.

Eyewitnesses said the incident caused panic in the campus due to confusion over the cause of the explosion.
